The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) was founded in April 1977. The article by Ron Iscoff shows the controversy that the founding of SIA created. While all of the founding members assured that this is not a defection from Western Electronics Manufacturers Association (WEMA), SIA excelled to become the gold standard of trade associations today.
