Verigy (HP) 93000

Verigy (HP) 93000

Today the company is known as Verigy and they are considered a powerhouse of semiconductor Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) But when the 93000 was introduced in 1999, the company was more well known for its instruments. That changed because HP moved the tester to the chip and into the test head (note how big it was). This enabled a chip maker to test most of its product line with single-scalable-architecture. Better yet, they broke the $1000-per-pin cost floor on the low end, while on the high end they could break Gbps speeds. It quickly became a true landmark, as most top-end SOC testers after it would copy the system’s architecture for many years to come.
